Former Muse of Robert Altman and Stanley Kubrick

Actress Shelley Alexis Duvall, known for her eccentric roles and collaborations with Robert Altman and Stanley Kubrick, has passed away at the age of 75. Duvall, who was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on July 7, 1949, rose to prominence in the 1970s with her memorable performances in films such as Altman's "MASH" (1970), "Brewster McCloud" (1970), and "Nashville" (1975).

"The Shining" and Beyond

Duvall's most iconic role came in 1980 with her portrayal of Wendy Torrance in Kubrick's horror masterpiece "The Shining." Her vulnerable and terrified performance as the wife of Jack Nicholson's deranged caretaker has remained etched in the minds of audiences worldwide.

Throughout her career, Duvall continued to challenge herself with unconventional and often unsettling roles. She appeared in films such as Terry Gilliam's "Time Bandits" (1981), Wim Wenders' "Paris, Texas" (1984), and Gus Van Sant's "Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot" (2018).
