The Old Man Season 2 Review: An OK Show Going Undercover as a Good One

Jeff Bridges is back as Dan Chase in The Old Man Season 2, and he's still got it. But the show around him is starting to show its age.

The Good: Jeff Bridges, Alia Shawkat, John Lithgow

Jeff Bridges is still the best thing about The Old Man. He brings a quiet intensity to the role of Dan Chase, a retired CIA agent who is trying to live a normal life. But when his past comes back to haunt him, he's forced to go on the run. Bridges is able to convey Chase's vulnerability and strength with equal measure.

Alia Shawkat is also excellent as Angela Adams, a young woman who helps Chase on his journey. Shawkat brings a lot of heart and humor to the role, and she's a great foil for Bridges.

John Lithgow is also back as Harold Harper, Chase's former CIA handler. Lithgow is always great, and he brings a lot of gravitas to the role. Harper is a complex character, and Lithgow does a great job of capturing his contradictions.

The Bad: The Plot, The Pacing

The plot of The Old Man Season 2 is a bit of a mess. It's hard to follow at times, and it's not always clear what the characters are trying to achieve. The pacing is also a bit slow, and the show often drags. It can be hard to stay engaged for long periods of time.

The show also suffers from a lack of focus. It's not clear what the main story is, and the show often jumps around from one subplot to another. This makes it difficult to stay invested in the characters and the story.

The Ugly: The Violence

The Old Man is a violent show, and it's not for the faint of heart. There are scenes of graphic violence throughout the season, and it can be difficult to watch at times. The violence is often gratuitous, and it doesn't always serve the story.

Overall, The Old Man Season 2 is a disappointment. It's not as good as the first season, and it's starting to show its age. The plot is a mess, the pacing is slow, and the violence is gratuitous. If you're a fan of Jeff Bridges, you might still enjoy the show. But if you're looking for a good spy thriller, you're better off looking elsewhere.
